Sunday Roasts - Saturday Evening Dinner - Friday night Live Music
A Warm Welcome from our Team at the Kings Arms, Horsham
Pubs are all about people!
We opened our refurbished doors in March 2018 with Colin & Siobhan as the management partners. They played THE key role in the next chapter of our small but delightful pub, so it was never ideal for them to move to another new pub in our small but delightful group... but Siobhan is going home, with Colin in tow😉 , to run a pub that her Father used to drink in and in a place her Mum still lives, so, whilst Horsham will miss them and they will miss Horsham, we can all understand the pull of a place called Home! Thank you Colin & Siobhan, you did a fine job here and Good Luck!
Another New Chapter: with every change comes opportunity and we are pleased to report our nervousness at the change has been replaced with excitement.
Your new Landlady will be Sue McGovern, a publican with great experience and for many years a Horsham girl, Sue is committed to great local ales to accompany the Gin, Rum, Whiskey and Wine and will oversee the team. Sue will be mine host.
For the Kitchen Chef Iain Boyd joins Sue to complete our new Management Team, Iain will now operate the kitchen 7 days a week, taking on the baton from Colin, Iain is a talented Chef with experience that includes South Lodge and he's a Horsham lad to boot. The food will follow a similar path and whilst Iain will put his own stamp on the menu you can be assured quality, local and a Great Roast remain as the foundation.
Come on down to the King's Arms Public House "a stunning transformation, creating a Country pub in the Town" (Horsham District Post) and experience a fresh looking 351 year old pub, where the people matter!
On the 13th October 2017, around 350 years since the King’s Arms first opened its doors, we re-opened as a true Freehouse. We are a Great British pub and we aim to remain that way. In early 2018 we promised the people of Horsham and beyond that we would undertake a refurbishment and introduce Great British food to compliment a fine selection of Ales including Beers that celebrate the local brewing heritage. And we have proudly delivered on that promise, ultimately meaning the pub has a new lease of life so we can serve you for 350 years yet. Check out our History below and be a part of our Future.
Build it and people will come...
Okay, so we didn’t build it, we refurbished it some years later...A BIG Thanks for your patience and your support, people needs pubs and pubs need people!

See you soon!
For 350 years the King’s Arms on Bishopric has stood proudly in the town of Horsham. Evidence suggests, however, that Ale was perhaps being enjoyed here long before 1667! Medieval pottery was found during an archaeological evaluation at the King’s Arms in 2002.
Bishopric gained its name from the fact that the Archbishop of Canterbury was the Lord of the Manor for the area, then known as Marlpost (Visit our new Marlpost snug, tell your friends about it...or maybe keep it to yourself 😉) In 1461, a Monday market was granted by ancient charter by Henry VI in the 39th year of his reign, from which all rents and profits would go to the Archbishop.
Bishopric, first named in 1545, soon became a wealthy district and remained so long into the 17th century, we know this from the tax returns lodged in the area and also expressed in the large contemporary houses built on its north side, one of which was the King's Arms.
You don’t have to be a Lord, an Archbishop or wealthy to visit us nowadays...but if you do visit you may just be mixing with at least one of the aforementioned!

"What Care I how time advances? I am drinking Ale today"
We have a later license until 1am on Friday and Saturday but we are respectful of our Neighbours and will typically close at midnight. Well behaved dwellers may occasionally be allowed to savour their Drinks. Thank you for playing a part in our History, imagine the characters that've visited in 351 years, become one of them or maybe a regular if you aren’t already! 😊
A video captured 30 minutes before we re-opened the doors following our refurbishment in early 2018, we thank all our customers, past, present and future for enabling us to bring the heart and soul back to this pub, meaning the Kings Arms, Horsham can remain a part of the town for another 350 years! Pay us a visit to see it with your own eyes. The pub is dead, long live the Pub!
The Kings Arms, Horsham is getting a new Sister!
On September 24th 2018 the Kings Arms, Horsham was joined by a new sister (or should we say brother), King William IV in Pembury near Tunbridge Wells. If you've enjoyed the Kings Arms and are ever over that way be sure to pop in and enjoy a Glass with Colin & Siobhan.
